Action Operation of OTS

Action Operation of OTS

Now that the GEN 1 OTS has been out for a while, we wanted to post a message about them. Specifically addressing the action button and why we believe it sets itself apart from other OTS blades on the market.

Usually, we get to explain these things in person, but with the growth of technology that is just not always feasible. So here it is:

Since we are members of law enforcement, most we do involves 'INTENT.' So, we wanted to make sure when someone pulls our blade from their pocket, they have the intent to activate (open) and use the blade for whatever the intended purpose might be.

To achieve this, we recessed the button slightly below the surface of the handle so the user must show intent by using the tip of their thumb/nail to find and press down on the action/lock button to activate the motion of the blade. By recessing the button, it also acts as a safety. This allowed us to eliminate an external safety that you would find on most OTS blades and eliminate a step in the process of trying to get the blade out and ready for the task you have before you.

Recessing the button also aids in further mitigating the chances of the blade opening inside of your pocket. Something the two of us her at Brotherhood Blades have been victim to one too many times with other OTS's out there on the market.

Here at Brotherhood Blades we want to stress the importance of intent. We believe being able to factor it into the process of operating and handling one of our OTS blades without sacrificing safety, accessibility, and comfortability sets us apart from the competition.
